Soprema Senior Center & Café

An Innovative Gathering Place

The Soprema Senior Center & Café takes great pride inspiring seniors in the Wadsworth community to be the best they can be through  an abundant offering of innovative programs, lively events, informative classes and many opportunities to engage.

Located at 617 School Drive on the vibrant multi-generational Wadsworth High School & Community Center campus, the Center serves the 55+ population of Wadsworth and surrounding communities. In addition to ample and accessible space for senior programming, the Center also features a full-service Café that is open to the public, offering fresh and tasty food at reasonable prices.

The Heart of the Wadsworth Community Center Campus

The Soprema Senior Center & Café is truly the heart of the Wadsworth Community Center campus.  The award-winning Center is modeled after the Mather LifeWays Café Plus concept, featuring a blend of traditional senior programs paired with a variety of life-enrichment and wellness opportunities. The Café is operated by Windfall Industries and is staffed by the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities. This unique partnership also includes the City of Wadsworth, the Wadsworth Older Adults Foundation and Medina County Office for Older Adults. These entities work collaboratively to provide a dining hot spot and gathering place for seniors and the general public, as well as a training site for individuals with developmental disabilities.

An integral service component of the Soprema Café is the Congregate Meal Voucher Program. This innovative program provides a variety of healthy lunch selections to needy seniors. The Voucher Program is coordinated by the Medina County Office for Older Adults through federal Older Americans Act funding. Through the years, public funding that supports this program has steadily declined and the Wadsworth Older Adults Foundation has stepped in to provide essential supplemental funding, allowing the program to serve more needy and at-risk seniors.

Support from Steadfast Partners and Collaborators

The City of Wadsworth recognizes the value of older adults in our community and has supported the operations and facilities of Soprema Senior Center for over forty years. In addition, the Center enjoys the steadfast support and of the Wadsworth Older Adults Foundation and its many Professional Friends.

The Foundation provides resources for a number of unique initiatives and Professional Friends work collaboratively with Center staff to offer a wide variety of meaningful and relevant programs for seniors. The Wadsworth Older Adults Foundation is the primary source of support for the following special programs offered at the Soprema Senior Center:

Inter-Generational Technology Program

This educational program links high school students with older adults in a creative and inspirational way.
